We Say...

For a half-century, Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts characters found their tiny, adorable way into satirical sketches, often providing social commentary on relevant topics, ranging from the Vietnam War to space exploration. Schulz died in 2000, but his characters are relevant: People still love watching TV reruns of A Charlie Brown Christmas every holiday season. In an effort to preserve (and maybe introduce, for some little ones) the Peanuts bunch, this touring exhibit from California’s Charles M. Schulz Museum hits the History Center toting a “web of life” theme, with more than 65 comic strips, interactive drawing lessons and a 12-foot Kite-Eating-Tree replica. And to bring the show to life on opening day, former Tampa-based weather report cartoon artist Linda Gialanella moderates a panel discussion among four notable comic artists: Central Florida magazine cartoonist Jeff Parker, animation producer Mark Simon, children’s book author Rob Smith, Jr. and Marvel Comics’ Allen Bellman. – Aimee Vitek
