It’s a concert. It’s a catwalk. It’s a gallery. It’s a screening. RAW: Natural Born Artists popped onto the scene last month, seemingly fully fledged, with their first Orlando “artists showcase.” This three-year-old national alliance of artists of all stripes (“an independent arts organization for artists, by artists”) presents their second Orlando event Thursday, and you won’t want to miss this one: They may call it a showcase but we’d classify it as a sort of polymorphous party-slash-market-slash-performance. With a fashion show, hair show, live body painting, local bands, roving photographers and all of it for sale – not just jewelry and clothing, but a mini-gallery featuring a dozen artists – it seems that the only rule is to wow the crowd. And at the Abbey, always a fabulous party venue, the crowd is sure to stay wowed. The best part, of course, is that all of the artists and performers are local. – Jessica Bryce Young
